Costa Calida & Blanca

Costa Calida lies within the region of Murcia and in situated in the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula. To the north lies the Costa Blanca which is within the Valencia region and to the south lies the Almeria region affording some 250 kilometres of varied shoreline to include large stretches of unspoilt coastline some of which is protected as designated national parks.

Blessed by the mild Mediterranean climate it has at least 315 days of sun per year. Minimum temperatures range between 12-14C and maximum temperatures between 20-22C in winter. Summer temperatures vary between 18-20C minimum and between 30-35C maximum. The average annual temperature is 18C.

The Costa Calida is blessed with an area called the Mar Menor (small sea) which is fed by the Mediterranean and protected by a narrow peninsula which stretches down towards La Manga (known as the strip). This beautiful stretch of inland sea boasts an all year round water temperature which allows warm water bathing in the winter. The shallow depths of this area affords safe bathing for families and small children and is famous for excellent sailing and surf boarding.

Development around the inner part of the Mar Menor is mainly restricted to low-rise, with the exception of the La Manga strip, whose high-rise hotels and apartment blocks provide a spectacular light show at night reflecting across the shimmering lagoon of the Mar Menor.

The famous La Manga Club with three 18-hole courses is one of the worlds great resorts. A luxurious playground has been shaped on 1400 acres of lush, rolling countryside scattered with thousands of palm trees and surrounded by lemon. There are many more existing golf courses which are within easy access of these areas with at least a further 5 courses planned and under construction.

This region is served by both Alicante and San Javier airports providing daily flights from UK International and regional airports.
